Microsoft
Word Integration Enhancement - Print Box and Mass Mail Merge Office XP -
2003
Microsoft's
version of OFFICE XP and OFFICE 2003 have changes in the way they ask for
your Print Selection box to appear compared to the previous versions of
Office 97 and 2000. The fix made in 2001 by Power Broker enabled you to
choose what printer you were using but unfortunately disabled the 'Mass
Mailing Merge' feature.
The way Power Broker has dealt with this is to define what version of Office each Power Broker user uses. To do so, you would need to go to Tables, User Preferences, More Settings and either put a '7' or an 'X' in the question box provided. Microsoft Office 97/2000 would use '7'
Microsoft Office XP/2003 would use 'X'
There is a
new row in the create, print, customer, and policy menus that
differentiates between the type of documents available.
Scenario 1 - New Power Broker brokerage on Microsoft Office XP/2003 If you are a new Power Broker user and your brokerage is presently on Microsoft Office XP or 2003, then simply set all User Preferences to 'X' and begin making new Form Templates.
Scenario 2 - Existing Power Broker brokerage on
Microsoft Office 97/2000
If you are an office that is presently on Microsoft Office 97 or 2000, then continue using the templates you have been all along.
Scenario 3 - Existing Power Broker brokerage on a
mixture of Office versions
If you have a mix of either '97/2000' and/or 'XP/2003', and you are sitting at an XP/2003 machine, and have many existing Microsoft Word templates in your system, the default setting in User Preferences is blank, or '7' which means that all of your original documents can still be used but Office XP/2003 users will not be able to do mass merging.
Scenario 4 - Existing Power Broker brokerages that
want to partially or fully migrate Office 97/2000 templates to Office
XP/2003 templates
If you however wish to have the Print box option and the MAIL MERGE to multiple customer/policies to work with Office XP or 2003 for one of your existing documents, you will need to copy the contents of the letter with User Preferences set at '7' first, switch to 'X' and then create a new template, right click and paste into the empty template and then save. Repeat this procedure over again if you have other templates that you wish to duplicate for multiple versions of Office. |
