Power Broker
tracks the number of concurrent sessions running by setting a flag to
indicate InUse. This flag is set in the User Security record for each
active user.
User Limit Exceeded error may indicate that all your licensed sessions
are in fact in use and so no further sessions will be permitted until
another session is ended. It may be that one user had an error in Power
Broker that did not allow them to properly exit and so the InUse flag
was not cleared. You may clear this flag either via User Security table
or Reset User InUse Counters utility.
Often the User Limit Exceeded error is caused by network events such as
server crash, power outage, etc. When this type of event occurs user
sessions are left flagged as InUse. Refer to PBMEC utility instructions
to force a Pack & Reindex. This will reset all InUse flags.
When the number of concurrent sessions exceeds the Power Broker license
limit, the following screens are displayed.

Reset User InUse Counters
If there are users still working in Power
Broker when the User Limit Exceeded message is displayed, have an active
user proceed to Utilities Functions menu to Reset User InUse Counters.
Note access to this utility is controlled by User Security setting # 46.
Remove the ‘Y’ from the InUse fields for any session that is not
actually running. Do not change the ‘Y’ to a ‘N’. The InUse field must
be empty to be considered not in use. It is okay to remove all InUse
settings (#1; #2; and #3). Any active sessions will reflag this InUse
field as the user continues to work in Power Broker.

Resetting InUse flags via
User Security table
It is also possible to reset the InUse flags
in the User Security table. Only users with user security setting #16
enabled will have access to the User Security table.
To reset sessions in User Security table, remove the ‘Y’ from all InUse
fields. Again, it is okay to remove all flags, as they will be
reflagged as the user continues to work in Power Broker.

Resetting InUse flags using
PBMEC Utility
If User Limit Exceeded error occurs when noone
is actively working in Power Broker, you should run the PBMEC utility.
Step #4 will force a Pack & Reindex the next time Power Broker is
launched. This Pack & Reindex will reset all stranded user sessions.
Running Pack & Reindex utility regularly may help to prevent the User
Limit Exceeded error.
