Power Broker Scanning Feature Launch Adobe Reader (March/2005)

  This new feature incorporates the Present Power Broker Scanning Feature with a new twist.  Power Broker will now scan single or multiple paged documents into your customers abeyance and then from abeyances, launch Adobe Acrobat Reader to view them.

Step 1)
The first thing you will need is Power Broker Scanning feature key file.  To find out if you presently have this key file, open Power Broker, and at the top, click 'HELP' and then ABOUT Power Broker for Windows' and see if scanning is enabled.  If not, then please call our sales line at 877-774-9444.  The key file is a one-time charge of $500.00 plus tax.  If you have seen this screen capture, then you know that you don't have this feature and need to call our sales line.



Step 2)
The next thing needed is the new Power Broker Upgrade available from our website (March 18/2005 or later).  Return to the home page of our website and upgrade to this new version.  To find out what version you are running, you would need to go to your servers \BRO directory, and find out what date your BROW.EXE file is.


Step 3)
The next thing needed is Adobe Acrobat Reader which can be found on the internet for free.  Install this at every workstation unless you are running a terminal service environment.

Visit Google, and do a search like this screen capture.
 


Step 4)
Once Adobe Acrobat Reader has been installed, ensure that you have an images/image folder on your server.  Go to Utilities, Define your Company Information, Software Directories.  Please call technical support for further details.



Ensure that you have a 'P' in the Acquire Scanned Images on your Utilities, Define your Company Information, EDI/MISC options, Page 2.



Step 5)
In Tables, User Preferences, each user planning on using the scanning feature and has a scanner connected to their workstation would need to browse to their new Adobe Acrobat Reader executable file, as well as their Scanning Software executable file.




Step 6)
Once these are completed, go to a Customer, Policy, Vehicle, Property and Claims screen and click on the 'Scanning' button.  Choose .PDF




Complete this screen and click 'Proceed'



Another row at the bottom of your screen will open and your servers drive path and images folder directory, as well as your pdf file name will be displayed.  Click Proceed or wait 10 seconds, and your scanning software will launch automatically. 

You will have to use the path that's automatically generated and indicated in this window otherwise the integration will not work.

You should not change the drive, folder name or the filename.


(Tip:  Write down the name of the file until you know if your scanning software covers your file name path)




Once your scanning software launches, you need to click on 'File, and Save As' and choose .PDF file type.




Now that you know it's going to be saved to your images folder on your server, type in the file name that you previously wrote down, or, if you can see it on the screen, retype it in now.




Click 'Scan'.




Once it's completed scanning, choose file, exit, or click on the top right x of your scanning software.




Click 'Proceed'.




In this customers Abeyances, you should now have a listing of your new .PDF file.




Click on it and choose the 'View' option at the bottom of your screen.




Adobe Acrobat Reader will now open and display your document.
