Establishing what drive letter to use The first thing you would need to do is sit at a workstation that already has Power Broker installed on it, right click over your Power Broker icon and then go to Properties. At the top, you would see 'Shortcut' and on this page, you would see a line that says 'Target'. It would generally read something like: Z:\BRO\BROW.EXE You would write this information down and return to the NEW computer. Mapping your Network Drive Sitting at the new workstation, and assuming that you have already joined your computer to your new servers Workgroup/Domain, you would: Windows XP Users: Right click over your 'START' button, and choose Explore, click on Tools, choose Map Network Drive, choose the Z: drive, click on browse, and browse to Entire Network, Microsoft Windows Network, the domain or workgroup name, choose the server that Power Broker is loaded on, choose C: drive, then DATA, then OK. (Check mark in the ' Reconnect at logon ' ). ( Note: You have to have a mapped drive before you proceed and NOT use a UNC path ) Windows 7 Users: Right click on your 'START' button, and choose Windows Explorer. On the bottom left, click on Network and then the Server, you should see a share like DATA. Right click on the share and choose Map Network Drive and select Z: (Check mark in the ' Reconnect at logon ' ). ( Note: You have to have a mapped drive before you proceed and NOT use a UNC path ) Creating an Icon and Naming it on your workstation With a Z:\ drive now in Windows Explorer, you should see a \BRO folder. Find a file called BROW.EXE, right click on this file, and choose ' Send To Desktop, Create New Shortcut '. Rename the icon to Power Broker with a capital P and B please and change the icon by right clicking, going to properties, click change icon, browse, and then browse to Z:\BRO\BROW.EXE. Running Workstation.EXE On the new workstation, you will need to go to START, RUN, and then click BROWSE and go to your Z:\BRO folder and find a file called Workstation.exe. Double click this file, and then click OK on the run window. You would then click 'Run' if you get a security warning, and then click 'NEXT' and then 'FINISH'. Setting up Power Broker - TABLES, USER PREFERENCES As this is a new computer, you would want to log into Power Broker as the user that sits at this desk and go to TABLES, USER PREFERENCES, and browse to Internet Explore, Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat Reader. ![]() |
