Internet Explorer 7.0  - Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/2003 Server edition
- The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software?

  One moment please...
Although attempts are made to make the information in these bulletins accurate and understandable, they are only a guide. Any time you are making changes to Power Broker or to Windows, there is a chance of things going wrong. If you feel something is beyond your abilities or just not quite clear, contact our technical support department or get someone with computer experience to help you.

It's been reported that since when you launch Power Broker after installing Internet Explorer 7.0 on Windows XP or if you use Microsoft Windows Vista or Microsoft Windows 2003 Server edition, a new message opens:
The publisher could not be verified.  Are you sure you want to run this software?

Here are two suggestions:

Suggestion number 1)

Suggestion number 2)

If you are running an EXE from a server with Active Directory using Windows XP SP2 you may encounter the following dialog.

"The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software?"

To disable this dialog set or add the following string in the Windows Registry.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Associations]
"LowRiskFileTypes"=".exe"

Please note:
You can use this setting in either the HKEY_CURRENT_USER or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
If this key is already there, add ";.exe" to the end of the key value.
If more then one file type is added, separate with a semi-colon.
You may need to log off and back on for the setting to take effect.

Warning:
Use at your own risk. If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system.
